Less than 12 months after the release of their debut album, Renovar o Morir, regional Mexican quartet Calibre 50 are on a fast track to stardom. Could they soon become this year's Voz De Mando?
The four young guns from Sinaloa burst onto the scene in 2008 with Hotel Del Cid, a popular version of the hit song also performed by Andres "El Macizo" Márquez. Last year, Calibre 50 followed with Culiacán vs. Mazatlán, a breakthrough hit which is essentially an ode to the buchón lifestyle: lots of girls, drinks, cash and cars. The band's latest, El Tierno Se Fue, is a salacious lovesong featuring cheeky lyrics that stop just short of being NSFW:
Ya no me va a importar
Si mancho la cama
Con mi intensidad
Si no tienes ganas te voy a meter
La idea de lo que te quiero hacer
Calibre 50's latest album, De Sinaloa Para El Mundo, is out now.
