"People see dark faces out there, and the perception is that they're African American. They're not us. They're impostors. Even people I know come up and say, 'Hey, what color is Vladimir Guerrero? Is he a black player?' I say, 'Come on, he's Dominican. He's not black.'"

- Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter says MLB scouts prefer black Latinos over black Americans.

"What I meant was they’re not black players; they’re Latin American players. There is a difference culturally. But on the field, we’re all brothers, no matter where we come from, and that’s something I’ve always taken pride in: treating everybody the same, whether he’s a superstar or a young kid breaking into the game. Where he was born and raised makes no difference."

- Torii Hunter responds to criticism over calling Latino players "impostors."

Conyo Esa vaina me enfada mucho! alot of Afro latinos have negation about saying that they are black. But that due to the historical stuff that has happen in our countries during colonoization. And regards to dominicans...things just got a little tougher for the black dominicans when Trujillo was president aka 'El Loco'..Yall, Yo soy Negra y yo soy ecuatoriana y panamena y nigeriana and it is not my nigerian[african] side that makes me black in fact my papa who is panamanian and ecuadorian and wayyyyyy darker than my mom...yes we are different from afro-estadunidense en respecto de nuestra cultura pero la verdad es que nuestros antepasados came on tha same slave boats but we just had different STOPS so that is why we have different last names[in spanish vs. in english] different faiths[ catholic vs. protestant] and varying taste in music, but no...i live in ecuador and i have lived in the states and i totally connect with Afro-estadounidense often times better than other latinos....especialmente where i was living but i really dont like how he said we[o sea the afro-latinos] were acting as imposters??? Esa vaina no tiene sentido....watever....

how is he an impostor? man if my dude here did any history research he would see that's not true at all.
matter most african americans were shipped over here to states from places like hispañola. matter of fact the largest african popluation outside of africa itself it brazil there's so many black ppl theres it's crazy. are they posers too? we as black people really need to educate ourselves about our latino negro counterparts and possibly relatives (remember africans got seperated) eyo my dude needs to read a book instead of poppin' off at the mouth so doggone quick sheesh

Manito! vos tenes toda la razon! a ppl that now there history will make sense of their present and future..Hollla.
