Earlier this week, the public debate around the war in Afghanistan intensified after thousands of sensitive military documents were leaked to the press.
But what is the war really like for those fighting it? Guardian UK reporter Sean Smith has captured days in the lives of U.S. Marines stationed in the frontlines of the nine-year-old war, where daily temperatures can hit 133 degrees and the coalition forces mission has advanced less than 12 miles in the last year.
