  • (Bill Pugliano/Getty) President Barack Obama is expected to announce $300 billion in tax cuts and federal spending Thursday night during his anticipated jobs speech. The proposal is intended to get Americans working again, and to reduce the country's overall unemployment rate of nine percent. The unemployment rates for Hispanics in the U.S. is currently at 11.6 percent.

  • Dev has a new album, The Night the Sun Came Up, scheduled for release on September 20, but that's not the only thing she is looking forward to: the 22-year-old singer just announced she is pregnant with a baby girl.
  • (John Moore/Getty) Arizonans who want to visit relatives who are in any state prison will now have to pay a $25 background fee. The fee is considered the first of its kind in the country and went into effect July 20. The fee doesn't actually go toward a background check. Instead the money will be deposited in the Department of Correction’s Building Renewal Fund and will go toward the state's 1.6 million deficit, according to state officials.
  • Soul singer Erykah Badu has announced she is earning her certification to become a midwife. Badu is already a trained doula – someone who assists a woman through labor during natural childbirth – and says she hopes that with her certification she will be able to open up natural birthing centers in inner city neighborhoods. Since becoming a doula, Badu has provided all of her services for free.
