Former Arizona Governor Raul Castro was detained by Border Patrol officials last month after his vehicle triggered a radiation sensor. The 96-year-old says he was frustrated because he was made to wait in his car in 100-degree heat for more than 30 minutes. Castro said: "I don't think being Hispanic had anything to do with it." It's not the first time Castro has been questioned by Border Patrol officers, and Castro has noted that the previous times (which happened decades ago) were instances where he was profiled due to his appearance.

The California Senate has passed what some are calling the Anti-Arizona Law, a law that requires police officers to only detain undocumented immigrants who have commited felonies. Undocumented immigrants who have committed no serious crimes will not have to be referred to immigration officials. The law will no go to the California State Assembly for a vote. San Francisco Democratic Assemblyman Tom Ammiano: "California cannot afford to be another Arizona."

A 22-year-old college student in Brazil faces six months in prison after lying about being kidnapped by three men for a day. The student, Susan Paola Fadel Correia, made up the story so she could get out of turning in a school project that was due.
