  • To celebrate Earth Day, April 22nd, companies use "green" giveaways to demonstrate their commitment to the environment. Check out these freebies you can snag this weekend!

  • Plastic shopping bags can take 15 to 1,000 years to decompose. Ditch the plastic for a durable and reusable bag. On April 22, Target is handing out 1.5 million reusable bags in stores nationwide. The tote's design encourages users to “fill, refill, repeat.”
  • Did you know that one tree can produce up to 260 pounds of oxygen? Lowe’s is giving away one million tree saplings during in-store Earth Day celebrations nationwide on April 23rd. You can register your tree online to see where other trees are being planted across the country and for access to tree facts and a short informational video on how to plant and care for the sapling.

  • Get off the couch and go to the park! From April 21-29th get free admission to U.S. National Parks throughout the country. Go to nps.gov to find a park near you.
  • On April 22, trade-in any one of your existing skin care products, regardless of brand for an Origins moisturizer, while supplies last at Origins retail stores (or department store counters).
  • Bring any reusable mug or tumbler into a participating Starbucks store and get a free brewed coffee or tea on April 22. Brew, hot or iced, it's your choice.

  • Download the new Verde iPad app for free until Earth Day, April 22nd. This app will track your home energy consumption and make suggestions on how you can make changes to save money, and save energy.
  • Stop by your local Pottery Barn Kids store on April 21st or 22nd to pick up a free packet of sunflower seeds as part of their Earth Day celebration. Plant them in your Spring garden and watch them grow all summer long.
