  • During an interview at the Republican National Convention, controversial Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio joked that President Obama needs to give him more credit: "I should be getting a medal. The president should invite me to the White House ... and thank me for helping the government fight illegal immigration and the drug cartels."
  • A Mexican judge has issued an arrest warrant for former Tamaulipas state governor Tomas Yarrington, who is accused of accepting bribes and laundering money for drug cartels. Yarrington was the governor of Tamaulipas from 1999 until 2005.

  • Thalia and Anahí partied the night away recently to celebrate Thalia's 41st birthday. Thalia tweeted a photo of the pair with the caption: "Cómo y dónde fue esta borrachera que nunca nos habían dicho? hahahaa (How and where did this drunken night happen).
  • A federal judge says he will block portions of a 2011 Florida voting law that made it difficult for groups like Rock the Vote and the League of Women Voters to register people to vote. The 2011 law requires groups to turn in completed registration forms within 48 hours, or risk being hit with fines and possibly criminal charges. Before the law was passed, groups had 10 days to turn in completed registration forms.

  • Jenni Rivera is a grandma once more. Her son, Michael, is the proud father of a baby girl named Luna Amira. "Ya!!! Gracias a Dios por otra bendicion en mi vida. Ya llego mi 2nda nieta. Gracias a todos por sus oraciones (Thank you God for another blessing in my life. My second granddaughter has arrived. Thanks for all your prayers)," wrote Jenni on Twitter.
