Sylvia Robinson, a singer known as the "mother of hip-hop," has died. The founder and CEO of Sugar Hill Records was 75 years old. Robinson is recognized as one of the creators of hip-hop, assembling the Sugar Hill Gang and producing their hit, Rapper's Delight, the first hip-hop record to go mainstream. She also played a major role in the production of Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five's, The Message.
