Nearly 46 million people now receive food stamps and the number is likely to rise because of unemployment. Latinos have historically been among the lowest percentage of those receiving food stamps, but according to a recent report, one in three Hispanic households is unsure whether they will have enough food for everyone in the family.
Anonymous, the hacker group that promised to go after Los Zetas, is now backing away from its original threat. Internal disputes over the safety and efficacy of attacking the cartel have marred the group's objectives.

Juggalos, the face-paint-wearing fans of the rap group Insane Clown Posse, have been classified as a gang in the FBI's 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment for exhibiting criminal and "gang-like behavior" in Arizona, California, Pennsylvania and Utah.

Nicotine is likely a strong "gateway" drug that increases someone's chances of becoming addicted to cocaine, researchers reported this week. The large study on drug addiction suggested that "...a decrease in smoking rates in young people would be expected to lead to a decrease in cocaine addiction."
