Puerto Rican hip hop duo Calle 13 leads this year's Latin Grammy Award nominees with
a record 10 nominations, including noms for
best album, record and
song of the year. Don Omar, Luis Fonsi, Los Tigres Del Norte, Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Pitbull, Ivy Queen, Zoé and Tito "El Bambino" also received nominations.

Diabetes is now killing one person
every seven seconds, according to the International Diabetes Federation. Worldwide, obesity-related diabetes affects 366 million people, with 60 percent of cases concentrated in China. In the United States,
25 million people have diabetes. Latinos have the second highest rates of diagnosis after African Americans.

Violent homicide has overtaken car accidents as
the leading cause of death among young people in Mexico reports the Mexican daily newspaper, El Universal. The paper found that between 2008 and 2009 violent deaths among young people between 15 and 29 rose by 150 percent. Half of the homicides occurred in the Mexican states worst hit by current drug cartel violence.
