Larry Hernandez is recovering in a Mexicali hospital after suffering injuries in a car accident earlier today. Hernandez tweeted: "La Neta estoy mal." (Truthfully, I feel bad.)

The NBA has cancelled the first two weeks of its regular season because players and team owners have not been able to agree on a new contract. If the NBA cancels the following two weeks of the November schedule, it stands to lose $700 to $800 million in revenue. Los Angeles Lakers' guard and NBA Players Association President Derek Fisher said the entire season may be in jeopardy.

Mexican marines have seized more than four tons of marijuana, arrested 36 cartel members and killed 11 others during five days of raids through the border state of Tamaulipas. Meanwhile, an entire police force (100 officers) was arrested in the northern state of Linares, Monterrey and sent to another city to be investigated for possible corruption and ties to organized crime.
An official with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been arrested on charges of child molestation involving a six-year-old boy and bestiality involving her household pets. Until her arrest, Dr. Kimberly Quinlan Lindsey was a highly regarded scientist who has earned numerous awards at the CDC.
